Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead PE lessons.
  • Ensure the physical education curriculum promotes a physically active lifestyle.
  • Develop cooperation, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Employ various instructional techniques and media that are consistent with the physical limitations, needs, and capabilities of individual and group students.
  • Guide students in maintaining acceptable standards of classroom behavior.
  • Keep records of student achievement and evaluate students continuously to assess growth and progress.
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times
  • Prepare for classes and maintain written evidence of preparation.
  • Uphold and enforce school rules, school board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Work with other physical education staff members to plan instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Teach students good sportsmanship, rules, strategies, and techniques.
  • Measure student progress to encourage the mastery of school/state/national standards.
  • Celebrate individual and collective accomplishments by teaching the importance of self-improvement.
  • Create appealing lessons that implement a variety of methodologies
  • Cultivate student awareness and ownership of personal performance
  • Design, plan, and implement physical education lessons based on school/state/national standards.
  • Encourage teamwork to set collective and individual development goals
  • Ensure accommodations and modifications are for the growth and development of all students.
  • Ensure the physical education environment is clean, safe, and constructive for all students.
  • Teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness, rhythms and dance, health education, and individual, dual, and team sports.
  • Resolve conflicts between players on a team.
  • Attend games and championships and monitor teams.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in physical education, sports management, or a related area (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Over three years of experience in teaching or coaching.
  • Ability to develop and implement athletic programs.
  • Effective leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of athletic laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate games with other schools, creating fair rules and procedures.
  • Good Physical health and willingness to travel.
  • Use proven, research-based strategies for effective classroom management, lesson planning, active student engagement, and instructional delivery.
  • Support the school’s shared vision and common goals regarding physical education and physical activity.
